Remove the screw from the brackets

This is my second pair of Pro-Mount 90 brackets which I have carried for many years and have proven to be good wall mounts for my pro cinema pro speakers designed for retention and support. Speakers weighing less than 10 pounds. As with the first pair (and second pair), I encountered the same issues most people mention, the speaker sticking to the clamp or falling off after installation due to the included screw; clamping the ball is not strong enough to withstand the torque, clamp the ball and secure it properly. The screw strips pull it down due to the torque. To solve this I went to my local hardware store and got a set of screws with a screw cap so I could use a 10mm x 30mm socket (Methic screw) or a 7/16 x 1 standard 1/2" Can use screw with matching nut and a washer that fits under the screw cap I would recommend you bring a fixture to get the hardware the right size and ensure you insert the socket into the recessed area on the screw screw head. The size above I mention are two sizes I had to use because parts were not available in one size. This screw should not be just a standard screw, look for or ask for a high strength screw or 3 notches on top of the bolt head or a triangular punch on the head with appropriate nuts rated for the high torque required to tighten the clamp without damaging the clamp u nd be careful when tightening them or you'll break the clamp itself. As previously mentioned, these mounts are only rated for weights under 10 pounds or as recommended by the manufacturer. The hex bolt that comes with this kit is stamped 8.8 on the head, do not buy the same hardware, avoid buying this hardware or you will get the same results as before. It didn't cost much to replace the necessary hardware, just an inconvenience when, for the price of the item, the manufacturer could fit a screw that wouldn't break. We've uploaded photos of the aftermarket screw head and screws with the nut removed that came with the hardware to show why the screw isn't holding the speaker properly. I will be buying another Pro-mount 90 but I will be replacing the hex bolt with an upgrade bolt. This is an update from 2/3/2021. Recently a pair of these mounts finally failed after repeatedly adjusting my center speaker. My center speaker required two mounting brackets to attach it to my custom stand I made. The jaw clamp biting the ball breaks the ball after numerous adjustments I made to the center speaker. Thankfully, the speaker didn't fall off its mount due to the secondary rubber ball in the other mount. After this discovery I inspected the other four mounts and they appeared to be in good condition, but I would limit further adjustments to your speakers. Continued adjustment and re-tightening of fasteners can damage the fastener. Will I buy this item again or something similar? Yes, I just need to make sure I limit my settings.
