Review on OTC 8149 Conical Pitman Puller by James Pope

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One that's good for spares

If this type of puller has been recommended to you, this might be what you're looking for. I broke three other types of two arm pullers trying to remove the two arm puller from a Mitsubishi Starion and this one pulled it off without drama on the first try, mounted on the shaft but after that it was almost effortless. It actually took less torque to pull off than the ones that broke, and when I started leaning on it with a fairly long 1/2" ratchet, I was expecting either a pretty powerful kick or something. Instead I figured if it "succumbed" it would bend or break like the others. No, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It's quite an expensive way to remove a fairly obsolete steering component and I'll add it to the growing number of probably disposable tools I own, but I wish I'd just started with this one.
