Batteries only last 6 hours

Main criticism is that the batteries only last 6 hours before switching off, the same for both radios. This may be because I primarily use them for NOAA weather alerts. If I disable the NOAA alarm, the batteries last about 8 hours. I charged these batteries all night, so they should be sufficiently charged. However, the battery icon on the display will never stop cycling, as described in the user manual. Then I used regular batteries for both radios, turned on the NOAA alerts and the regular AAA batteries lasted almost 24 hours. Another complaint has to do with the "low battery" radio alarm, you barely hear the warning tones and don't see the volume control, so it's hard to tell when your batteries are low unless you watch the radio often. I am trying to replace an old set of similar Uniden radios as one has a broken antenna and they are getting old. My Uniden batteries last about 48 hours of continuous use with the NOAA warning on. Midland is a brand that has been around for many years and you would expect more from this company. Finally bought a brand new Uniden set.
