This is a lifesaver for those who have new laptops and an old VGA projector. As new laptops come out, they stop using VGA and use HDMI instead. We have a new/old church ceiling projector with only VGA capability. The laptop we used to display music, videos and words on the screen through the projector is very old and overheated. We swapped it out, but the newer laptop didn't have a VGA output. All the stores (Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc.) had this product, but they were all designed for laptop HDMI output to a male VGA port. The output of the projector is a VGA male, so the male-to-male connection does not work. (and they still cost about $30). I found this at Revain and while I could see the picture I was concerned it would be the same. But it was an HDMI socket and I was able to connect it to a VGA socket on the projector. Another problem is the reception of sound that does not come via HDMI (image only). This product features a short audio cable that connects to the headphone jack on a laptop. Good thing it's removable. I was able to hook up some longer audio to it and plug it into the church mixer so the sound went through the church speakers and not just the laptop. I am completely satisfied with this product and the price was under $10 so it was a win-win!
