Review on πŸ’» D-Link 802.11g Wireless G USB 2.0 Adapter with 54Mbps Speed by Anurak Grubb

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great little wireless adapter with a few flaws

I am using this USB wireless adapter with a Dell Studio XPS desktop system running Windows Vista Ultimate x64. It was easy to install the hardware and software and connect to my WPA secured Linksys router. I love that this wireless adapter comes with a stand that can be placed further away from the computer (if it's under a desk) so you can still get a good signal from the router. A few big points that I noticed (and gave four stars out of five) are that it sometimes seems to "freeze" and prevent data from being transferred for a few seconds. This caused some crashes in multiplayer games. The second issue is that a couple of times the adapter just stopped working (the light went out too) and I had to disconnect and reconnect it to restore communication. It recently got a software update and has been working better ever since. Hopefully these two issues have been fixed by the update. Overall, I'm happy with the product and will probably buy it again given the good performance and reasonable price.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Legacy model
