Stops working in 6 weeks

I bought this to use another computer for homework. Setup was successful, connected the first time. The signal was very weak every time I used it even though my wireless modem was on the same floor. However, it allowed me to use it for what I needed it for. Once I plugged it in and nothing happened. I tried a different USB port and still nothing. I've searched online to find out how to return it and found I missed my 2 week return window. I'm really disappointed with this purchase. Now not only

Works great with 64-bit Vista too

The best part is that this thing was immediately recognized under 64-bit Vista, which is a relief. It's easy to understand and no problems so far except one. The signal just isn't great, even with the router 10-15 feet away and even through walls, but I've never had a loss of signal. Didn't realize it needed to be installed on the base when I got it but I prefer it to stick out of my computer which would probably degrade the signal depending on where my computer is. The base is heavy, sits very

Just doesn't work

I bought this product for my dad's old laptop (running Windows XP) because it didn't come with a wireless modem. I followed the instructions that came with the adapter, I downloaded the necessary drivers, but when the installation asked me to plug in the adapter, the adapter wasn't recognized, I thought it was an old computer, so I got it tried in my computer. Newer laptop with w7 but the same thing happened, finally I tried a desktop computer (running Windows Vista) and again the adapter was…

Good adapter for the price

I bought this adapter to replace an old PCMCIA card that turned out to be defective. I was right, the old map was garbage. This immediately increased the performance of the laptop and the reception was excellent. One issue I had was that the adapter is quite large and this renders the adjacent USB port unusable (side by side or up and down ports, tried both). A nice addition would be a short extension cord and double sided tape or velcro to attach it to the laptop bag. I have Velcro but I…

Works fine for a long time

This review was written on 03/29/2014 for the D-Link Wireless G USB 2.0 802.11g 54Mbps Adapter which was advertised by third parties and sold on the Revain.I website at the time while I was reading this writing a review, we have been using this wireless adapter for over five years. It works well, requires no administration and does not cause any problems with the computer. Connectivity and bandwidth are top notch. The initial installation was very easy, plug and play. The adapter purchased…

Fast setup. Beautiful stand included!

I had to replace my 2-wire adapter because my 3 year old adapter didn't have drivers for 64-bit Vista. This D-Link model runs on Vista Premium 64-bit operating system. It comes with a 2 inch USB cable with a bracket on the end that can hold the adapter. The stand is heavy enough that the adapter doesn't slide around easily. The stand is good because I would prefer to use the USB port on the back of the computer so the adapter doesn't stick out too far and break if someone walks past the…

Great little wireless adapter with a few flaws

I am using this USB wireless adapter with a Dell Studio XPS desktop system running Windows Vista Ultimate x64. It was easy to install the hardware and software and connect to my WPA secured Linksys router. I love that this wireless adapter comes with a stand that can be placed further away from the computer (if it's under a desk) so you can still get a good signal from the router. A few big points that I noticed (and gave four stars out of five) are that it sometimes seems to "freeze" and…

Works with Unbuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron) Ready to use

This is the second D-Link WUA-1340g USB dongle I've bought. I was looking for a cheap USB network adapter to use with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and 8.10 and for use with my Windows XP/Ubuntu dual boot desktops. I am using WEP with my Qwest DSL 2-wire (2700-HG-D) gateway/router/wireless access point. The only thing easier than installing Windows was installing Unbuntu. It worked out of the box, with no special setup. I'm not sure if this USB network card uses different chipsets depending on the model…
