I'm a big tool collector and user and this tool is one of the best. I've used a lot of Empire and Stanley combination squares, and I also have an old Starrett, but this tool is in a league of its own. The edges are perfectly crisp, movement and locking are precise and positive, and the finish and markings are just beautiful to look at and feel. Often when you're building quality stuff, starting with a square or 45 degrees is the baseline, and you just can't do that consistently with a cheap tool. Even if you have a tool that works well, you always have the thought that if something goes wrong, maybe you started something wrong because of a cheap tool. It will never cross your mind with this great tool, so when things go downhill; You are that! Hey, at least you know the truth. The price is a little steep, but you're buying a family heirloom that will hold its value for a very long time, and you're also buying an opportunity to achieve greatness in your work, so it's a hell of a deal.
