I don't usually have a problem with Western digital drives. I accidentally got one that was DOA. The return process seemed normal until I received my hard drive back in the mail which indicated they had done nothing. The reason given is "damage". I don't know about you, but I am very careful with my discs and have followed all their instructions. The only mark I see is a very, very small crack in the plastic, which is easily missed by those not looking for it. At the same time, the reason for the drive recovery was that IT IS NOT WORKING. I have no doubt they could have replaced the damaged part as it is part of the board but it was easier for them to just say no and give it back to me. If I ever buy these drives again I will examine them with a fine comb because the reasons why they don't support their product in this case are ridiculous.
