Don't waste your money on WD, buy Seagate.

Performance was outside of specs after 7 1/2 months, about a month after I moved over 140GB of movies, music, games, photos and software to some storage space one of them to release my old drives (Seagate) which still work great. everything lost in 12 years of movies, music, games, photos and software. I will never buy a WD HDD again.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers

Screeching noise when computer shuts down

After three drives and three failures, I gave up trying to get WD to fix the black 2T drive issue. All three drives squeaked (like bad brakes) when the computer was turned off. WD support initially said this was normal and then switched to stating that this was totally unacceptable. Revain did a great job returning failed drives, but despite many calls, WD couldn't decide what to do and how to remove the drive without a fuss. The last call for the 3rd unit out ended with WD saying they would…

Review Part 1 Best Internal Hard Drives

So far so good. It arrived safe and sound, despite Amazon's best efforts to ship without additional padding. The empty carton was in a plastic sleeve with no padding. I was a little surprised there wasn't a mark on the box, but I haven't bought an internal hard drive in a long time, so maybe that's ok. I checked the drive and after a few hours everything was fine. There are no errors, at the first launch it clicks a little and then freezes. Torrents with 10 MB/s work fine so far. 1 week update:

it works, runs fast and silent

This review is for the following item as this listing is for multiple items and can be confusing. WD Black Performance Western Digital 2TB - Class 7200rpm SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - WD2003FZEXI Fully tested with the WD Data Lifeguard app. It took about 2.5 hours. Everything was good. Fast (compared to my old WD Black drives). while reading. The hard drive is quiet. I've seen some reviews of weird clicks or 5 second clicks, but I haven't noticed any "noticeable" or weird…

Your guarantee is bad.

I don't usually have a problem with Western digital drives. I accidentally got one that was DOA. The return process seemed normal until I received my hard drive back in the mail which indicated they had done nothing. The reason given is "damage". I don't know about you, but I am very careful with my discs and have followed all their instructions. The only mark I see is a very, very small crack in the plastic, which is easily missed by those not looking for it. At the same time, the reason for…

Over 15 years of PC building and WD has never failed.

Western Digital has never let me down. When I buy a mechanical turntable, I don't even think about anyone else. Over the years I have had many WD drives of varying capacities and have never had a single failure. I bought a WD Black 2TB model to replace an almost full WD Blue 1TB. My startup drive is a Samsung SSD (which I will eventually replace with a WD NVME drive) and I use the mechanical drive to back up my RAW photos and store all my PC games. The blue disk he replaced lasted 6 years and…

I have an extremely noisy device

I have an unusually noisy hard drive. Passed all tests but was very noisy and shaky compared to another Hitachi drive purchased with the same specs. I was about to drop the Hitachi for fear the price was too good to be true (the OEM drive is half the price but the dealer warranty is only 1 year) but it got delivered anyway. Luckily the Hitachi works great with the noise level I'm used to. I think you're lucky! Don't be afraid to return a drive if it's louder than you think, even if it passes…

Western Digital hard drives Poor quality

A little over a month after installation, the hard drive began to vibrate excessively in standby and made an annoying spinning noise. It takes place in a relaxed, friendly environment. Western Digital will replace RMA discs with refurbished ones. Customer is responsible for shipping to a Western Digital RMA center. The quality of Western Digital hard drives has dropped significantly. There's a reason they've reduced the warranty period on most of their consumer drives. I receive an RMA of…

Great all round high performance hard drive - with three caveats

These are AWESOME high performance hard drives that will last a lifetime and are backed by a warranty unmatched by anyone in the industry as of June. October 28, 2021 Over the years I have ordered about 12 of these drives of various capacities and form factors and only 1 of them has failed due to physical abuse. I have a couple of these drives (2TB/2003FZEX) on my main computer that were installed in April 2016. More than 5 years have passed and these drives have accumulated over 50,000 hours…
