Review on Royal Black Saucony Endorphin Speed by Kyle Larjin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

FAST low drop shoes for training or racing

The Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 has become one of my top two marathon training shoes. I love the look, the fit and most importantly the energy return I get from my runs. Compared to the Endorphin Shifts (my previous training shoe), they are lighter and more responsive, although slightly less durable. I typically use the Speed for runs up to 13 miles, but for longer runs I switch to a softer, more durable training shoe. Mainly because they make me run faster than I normally aim for. I alternate 2 pairs for most of my workouts and a day or 2 rests will extend the life of the Speed 2. At 350 miles you'll definitely feel the difference in cushioning and responsiveness, but they're still a pretty good running shoe for another 50-100 miles. I have a HUGE foot (size 14) and the sizing is true. If you have wide feet like me, you'll need to loosen the tongue a little and not over tighten as I've found them to be a bit restrictive as my foot swells in the later miles if you don't plan ahead.

Pros
  • Shoes true to size for a comfortable fit
Cons
  • Lack of ankle support
