Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Enhanced Timken HA590315 Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly for Optimal Performance by Ronnie Toups

Revainrating 2 out of 5

3 out of 4 failures in one year, not recommended

Unfortunately, as other reviewers have noted, these Timken bearings did not last long enough to justify the modest cost savings over the original Subaru units. I installed four Timken units on my Legacy GT and in a year and a half and less than 10,000 miles 3 out of 4 of them failed with varying degrees of severity. I bit the bullet and decided to replace them all with the original blocks. After removing each Timken hub/bearing assembly, I found that each had noticeable play and also rotated very freely (for example, a wheel bearing should not rotate freely like a skateboard wheel). I do all my mechanical work and value my time very much. The only good thing I can say about these bearings is that they were a lot easier to remove than the original 100,000 mile units as they only lasted a few thousand miles before failing. . lol. Whether you install it yourself or pay a mechanic, choosing this bearing over the original fit will cost you more money in the long run, which in my experience isn't much at all.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
