This pot did a great job with my wood burner. Steam heat/humidity contributes to the overall warmth of our home. Remember that you need to check the water level every few hours and also give it time to cool before adding more water to an empty pot to avoid cracking. The handle is expectedly cool to the touch, but be aware that it's cast iron and prone to rusting on the inside. Definitely not for hot drinks, but as mentioned for steaming. I suppose with the right spices etc this could have been avoided but other products are made specifically to address this issue. After all, I expect literally decades of use from this pot.
