New lightweight stand that works on both hard surfaces and carpets. It had good reviews, weighed only 10 pounds and cost just under $85, so I decided to give it a try. I first searched the Hoover and Bissell websites and this was the best price for a lightweight stand. My old one was a Bissell and I've probably had it for at least five or six years. This one weighed 11 pounds, and this one was even lighter - 10 pounds. We have such light stairs, which are not only suitable for carrying up and down, but also for vacuuming the stairs. First of all, this vacuum cleaner is very easy to assemble. No tools required. For real! You just put things on and surprisingly there is a way to take them off if for some reason you want to. Even the handle can be removed by pressing the button and will detach. It only weighs 10 pounds and has a carry handle on the top of the canister for easy portability. Second, the length of the cord is 30 feet. My old one was 20-25+ and I had to keep swapping it out for a different plug, sometimes just for one room. This cable length is perfect. It's not long enough to be unwieldy, but long enough to clean an entire floor with 1 or 2 outlets, just depending on the size of your home and where your outlets are located. The tools that come with this vacuum cleaner are excellent. I would have expected to pay more for a turbo brush but that's the standard. It also comes with an extension which I think is awesome because these posts always have a flexible hose that needs to stretch but when the suction is good it pulls everything together making it shorter than you would like. Using an extension gives you more space, and it's not so long that you can't use it to create stairs or other tight spaces. Brush. When I took it out of the box I thought they forgot to give me the grout tool but it turned out to be upside down and in extension. It's a smart way to store it so you don't have anything else attached to the vacuum that could fall off during use. It seems that all the tools are securely fastened. Note: If you have an old Bissell vacuum you can use the tools that came with it as all my tools are interchangeable. I'm sticking with them as some of my other tools are a bit different and might be better for certain areas. The suction power of this vacuum cleaner with tool or on carpet is very good for the size and the price. I'm giving five stars because of the price. For what you get it's very good value for money and works very well. I've noticed that with a rug the size of a shorter bedroom, the suction is so strong that it easily pulls the rug up, making it difficult to push. I've upped the level a bit to help with this, but that just goes to show how powerful the suction is! The suction is excellent and tooled. Just to make sure I crumble some popcorn and throw some on a hard surface and some on the carpet. He picked it up on his first pass over carpet and hard ground. It also didn't spill tiny crumbs of popcorn, so that's great as this is often a downside when running a brushroller vacuum on a hard surface. Regarding filters, my old one had a hepa filter and a foam filter. Only this one has a foam filter. I'm wondering how this will affect the life of my vacuum as I doubt that a small foam disc would be able to keep dust out of the motor like a HEPA filter would. It's nice that I can just wash it and not have to replace it as often as I would with another vacuum, but time will tell. It also comes with an additional Febrise filter. Haven't used it yet as I hate smells but I can always wash and use as a spare. This has to be one of the easiest to use bagless vacuums I've ever owned. You take off the canister that contains the filter and everything and there's a hatch at the bottom. It's easy to tap lightly to make the dirt fall to the bottom, and it's also thin enough that you can use it to smack the sides of the bin a bit to loosen the dust and make it fall out. I had no problem with something getting stuck in the filter area, but I didn't let the bin get too full. It was a bit difficult for me to reinstall it on the vacuum cleaner, but if I pay attention you can see how it should be installed. If you don't get it just right, it won't snap into place either. To use the tools, pull the tube out of the ground, which can be a little stiff as you won't hear a click or click when it's on. Path. Basically, it has to be pressed firmly. I'm not as strong for my age and have arthritis in my hand and would have preferred it to be easier on and off but my old one was like that too so I've gotten used to it. You just have to make sure it's secure, and if it slips, you'll know. This is a small issue but I thought I'd mention it. There is only one major downside. You cannot switch off the brush roller. There's a button that needs to be pressed to lower the floor cleaning handle, but when it's upright the brushroll still works. I think there is a way to turn the brush on and off with that up and down button. I vacuum a lot with tools and I don't like that I can't turn off the brushroll because not only is it wasting energy, but if it tips over and you touch that brushroll, it's not very nice. My old one was like that too and I'm not sure why they don't let the switch turn on when you lower the handle and turn off when the handle is locked upright. Due to the price and light weight, this wasn't a problem for me, plus all other functions worked well and overall it has good suction power. Overall this is a great vacuum for the price. If this were an expensive vacuum I would point out a couple of shortcomings that I found, but for less than $85 this is an amazing machine. Actually, I could buy another one for the basement, it's a bit dustier there and I don't like using the same vacuum cleaner upstairs. I like that they come in multiple colors so I don't mix them up.
