It might be ok for kids' first laptop or for grandma to play solitaire, but no more.

The first thing that struck me about this laptop, even after I picked up the box from the porch, is how light it is. Setup was easy, although Cortana didn't impress me. However, once the setup was complete, things went downhill. I had two programs I wanted to download onto my laptop, one I installed with minor problems, except that the computer ran very slowly because it just couldn't process information quickly. The other program didn't get installed at all because it just didn't have the power to handle it. Keep in mind; These are fairly generic Microsoft Office programs. The laptop gives you an annual subscription to Office 365, the web suite. It's good, but only for a year. (I'm a Mac user, so not having Office was fine for me, but it was like having to wait for the computer to start scanning.) I've spent hours trying different things to get this this machine works for me. However, it's basically a flip phone trying to be a smartphone and it just can't handle it. I think if you have a kid who needs a cheap computer for writing articles, this might work (if you're willing to pay for an Office 365 subscription), or you could set it up for Grandma to use Facebook and Solitaire to play, but it's such a weak machine that it can't do it anymore.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • so far so good
