Review on πŸ“š ExamReader: C-Pen Text-to-Speech Device, Your Ultimate Exam Aid with Human Reader Alternative by Randy Salgado

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Font size is critical to accuracy.

My 10 year old has a visual impairment/neuropathy that affects reading. The C-Pen exam is a simple, well-designed tool to use in class rather than constant oral instruction from someone else. The voice is much more natural than expected compared to other audio devices we've used. The ability to repeat a sentence instead of rescanning it also proved extremely helpful to her. Of course, her classmates thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Luckily she doesn't feel ridiculed by it. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that the ability to read the font size is more limited than I was hoping. As it rises to the higher tiers, the font size gets smaller, and some of the "large font" options are almost too big for the reader. Not all, but some. I understand that the stylus will have some limitations, but I'm almost wondering if we're just in the sweet zone of font sizes. Hopefully she can use it for a few years before the writing becomes too small to read accurately with the pen without confusing words from other sentences. All in all, we are sincerely grateful for this pen.
