Review on Microtek ScanMaker V6UPL: Powerful Flatbed Scanner for PC/Mac Users by Will Anderson

Microtek Scanmaker V6upl is a good scanner with an affordable price. It scans photos with good color reproduction and detail. PhotoImact software (included) is great photo editing software. Forget Adobe Photo Deluxe 2 (also included). The OCR is above average when using Textbridge 9, but doesn't cost much (usually) when using the limited OCR software that comes with it. The downsides are that it takes up a lot of desk space (but can scan 8 1/2 x 14 documents) and the included transparency adapter gives very poor results on the slides it was designed for. All in all, a good scanner worth its current price, especially if you're scanning some documents longer than 11 inches.
