My trainer recommended this as a handy kitchen tool. I've been using my cast iron skillets daily for about a year and wasn't sure I needed them, but WOW is a great time saver. I keep my pans sharp, but when I'm sautéing onions and bacon for an omelet, I don't deglaze (I can rinse) and the pan can be sticky when I'm making omelets (or country potatoes). Or if I add cheese and who knows what else to my omelette, I might end up with a huge porridge crust that might be dry by the time I get to the dishes. I don't always have to use my mail, but when I do I haven't come across a recipe (hamburger pie, chicken pie, potato dish, etc.) that doesn't go fast. I also like that if I use a red sponge (regular cookware) instead of a gold sponge (not a cast iron soap sponge), I'll no question accidentally soap my cast iron skillet. I quickly wash my mail in hot soapy water and soak/wash well before letting it air dry before hanging it on my closet door. If you are using cast iron I would invest in one of these.
