I needed boots I could count on. I trust Ruffwear with all their outdoor gear for our adventures and when we moved to Minnesota I knew paw protection was a must. The velcro and zipper help keep the shoe on my pup when he's jumping in the snow. (Check again and again that your pup's paws are properly fitted when walking.) I would recommend adding socks/boots to prevent snow from catching around the velcro in deep snow. This is not a problem on cleared paths. Boots protect my pups' paws from the icy banks of the Upper.
