Review on 🖱️ Logitech MX Anywhere 3 for Mac: Compact Wireless Mouse with Ultrafast Scrolling, Portable Design, and Customizable Buttons - Pale Grey by Jamal Gerrero

UPDATE: I was able to set up the mouse the way I wanted it using Logtech Options software (and fixed the Horizontol scrolling issue mentioned below). BUT, it won't persist through a reboot. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling/uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, keeping profiles online, and even creating my own startup task to launch Logitech Options on startup. None of this works. I've found on the internet that many people have had this problem with Logitech software in different versions and on different devices for years and Logitech hasn't fixed it. I decided to get rid of this mouse. The MX Anywhere series is my favorite line of mice. I had the original, 2 and 2S. All of them have great battery life, are compact, overall beautiful and easy to use. But in my opinion 3 is a step backwards. First, the changes are mostly cosmetic (and maybe not for the better). Of course they replaced the scroll wheel with a magic one, like in Master (I have Master too), but otherwise I don't see any real upgrades. To be fair, I accidentally ordered the Mac version, thinking I'd only get the white/grey option, but as I note below, it didn't affect functionality much (what can I say). About the Mac version - although not advertised, it pairs with a unifying USB receiver. This was important to me because I have a dual boot system and didn't want to waste two devices on the same laptop. So cheers! Although not advertised, the USB functionality is there. However, note that the mouse didn't want to switch between smooth and jagged scrolling until I updated the Logitech Options app in Windows. never mind Okay, downgrade - the scroll wheel no longer clicks left and right. Supposedly you can swipe left/right by holding one of the thumb buttons and scrolling the wheel, but that doesn't work for me. :( I'm not sure if it's related to the connection via Unifying Receiver or if it's an issue with the Mac version or something else. Anyway, the left and right clicks on the scroll wheel are gone. Booooo! So a feeling like my mouse has just lost 2 buttons and has weakened.The mouse feels a little lighter (maybe my imagination) which is probably a bonus in a travel mouse but it feels a little cheaper.Conversely my 2S clatters slightly When I shake the sides of the 2S mouse have some sort of jeweled finish to provide grip, while on the 3 they used a series of combs I guess I don't find it any better than the previous scroll technology that have used them in the Anywhere series. There is one definite improvement: the USB-C connection. The other thing is that I find what I find both positive and negative is that the scroll wheel click is now like b works with other mice. If you click on it, you can scroll 360 degrees with the mouse. However, you can assign this function to 2S elsewhere (like the button below the scroll wheel, which now only toggles between smooth scrolling and notch scrolling; BUT I preferred to use this button to switch between desktops). All of this has been said. , both of these mice (2S and 3) are configurable with the Logitech app so you can have them behave the way you want them to. But in my opinion 3 is just a step in the wrong direction. What Logitech can do to improve this mouse: Go back to the old grip type (it's better); Move the device selector to another location on the mouse (the front right corner seems like a good spot for the three small recessed buttons OR the left side closer to the bottom front for the thumb controls); Left/right click the wheel back; and add a second button at the top to switch desktop. Another device pairing or two would be great, but that's wishful thinking. I would pay over $100 for this mouse. Conclusion: I will probably give away 3 and continue to use my 2S. I'll probably buy a few more 2Ss just in case Logitech continues down this path (please don't ruin my favorite mouse, Logitech!). Disclaimer: I don't use the Flow software. To be honest it seems useless to me, although I'm sure some people put it to good use. Also, I've only used this mouse on Windows. If I encounter other issues on Linux or Android I will update the review.
