You do NOT need this item in your tank!
Very disappointed with this product. I had two weeks in my tank to cycle through before putting any critters in it. After two days my tank became cloudy and wouldn't clear up even after repeated attempts to fix the problem. I decided to start over. When I removed this item, it was very slimy and the paint was actually peeling off my fingers. Don't waste money.
