This seat has been used on my mountain bike and road bike for the last 10 years. As the instructions say, it takes a couple of weeks of repeated use to get used to it, but once that's done you'll realize what a great seat it is. The most comfortable bike seat I have ever had, including original seats and various aftermarket seats. This puts some pressure on your hands, seat and arms, so various handlebar positions while riding, careful "hands-free" vertical riding for short periods when safe are all methods of dealing with it. The only situation I would put a traditional seatback on my bike is when doing trail/technical riding on my mountain bike. There you often drive out of your seat, but sometimes while sitting you need the "nose" of the seat to keep your balance or to change direction. Otherwise I would never have gone back to the traditional place. I've done short and long trips, day trips on and off road, bike camping and multi-day sit-down tours and am very happy with it. foxy
