I also have a Bodum Bistro coffee maker and I have tested coffee from both after steeping for 10 minutes (I drank the first half , then the lower half sitting for a while). Osaka is definitely more consistent top-down. BUT. see attached picture of a fairly significant design/manufacturing flaw that needs to be fixed: there is a fairly large concave part within the class where the handle attaches. This allows you to cycle through multiple bases. This is not a serious issue, but for a product specifically designed to prevent it, it should be addressed.
