Given the design constraints, this is a very useful tool. It seems impossible to keep the lead steady 100%, hence there is a slight wobble. The hand position shown in the Revain photo is inadequate - the palm must press firmly on the spacers to provide maximum stability. It helps to clear the shavings out of the hole every 1/8 inch or so. In addition, the high drilling speed reduces wobbling. With this process I was able to get clean vertical holes as small as 1/2 inch. up to 1 1/8" diameter made from 0.5" thick MDF.
