I bought this unit based on generally good reviews but it seems I received a defective product. After using the scale twice within a month, the scale stopped working (won't turn on). I replaced the battery but it still wouldn't turn on. I connected an alternate USB cable for direct power and it still wouldn't turn on. What I did notice was that the brand new 9V battery got very hot very quickly and there was also a slight smell of burnt plastic coming from inside the LCD where the battery/electronic components are housed. Claimed 2 year warranty, this week I have tried calling customer service (855-797-2253) and also emailing their support account (info@betterbasics.com) multiple times this week but have been unable to contact anyone and myself have not received an answer. I hope this is not your experience with this product.
