4-10 in GIRLS is actually 4-10 in WOMEN.

Bought these for my daughter. She wears size 4 girls shoes. I chose a shoe size 4-10 thinking they might be a bit big but she will grow in them. I wear 7 on women and think they would be VERY big on me. Socks in the LARGE size are more suitable for women's or teenager's shoes and not for children.
