I bought this monitor late last year but it had a few issues: DimSamsung shipped the first batch of this monitor with Eye Saver and standard ALS sensor. That's why the first owners complained about the dim/dark monitor. You can fix this by diving into the settings and disabling both options, but many people were unaware of this, including the reviewers. Coil Wind Noise Previous versions of this monitor exhibited noticeable coil wind from the onboard rear USB-A ports, particularly in idle/sleep mode. This can be quite distracting unless you wear headphones all the time. Some people said that the problem can be solved by switching the USB-C mode from "High-Resolution Mode" to "High-Speed Data Transfer Mode", but this option didn't work for my device. I've learned to ignore noise, but for a $250-$300 monitor it wasn't ideal. I am happy to report that the second monitor I received on March 24th resolves both issues. Brightness is high by default as two options are disabled by default. And the wind coil is completely gone. Now the monitor is absolutely still and bright enough. Samsung must have collected feedback from returned devices and made some improvements to devices now shipping to customers. It's good to see, although I'm still stuck with an older version of the same monitor with a defective coil winding, maybe Samsung support will fix it or replace it with a newer one. FYI, the only difference I found between the older and newer units was the date of manufacture as well as the color of the label on the back of the monitor. The old model has a dark gray label and says it was produced in October 2021. The label on the newer model is slightly bluer (bluish dark grey) and says it was made in November 2021. If you can find that info on the box I wouldn't even open the old block and send it back to Revain. Overall, I'm glad Samsung made significant mid-cycle changes to address the two main issues that have plagued this excellent monitor. Glad I bought this instead of waiting for the Apple Studio Display. Aside from the lack of a webcam and better integration with OS X, this monitor does more than an Apple monitor. In my opinion it also has a dough stand that is height adjustable, swivels, tilts and rotates while taking up very little depth on the table due to the tilt stand. I also like that the base is very thin with minimal overhang. I highly recommend this monitor after a recent upgrade.
