Review on ZyXEL Single Band WiFi Access Point NWA1100-NH with PoE and 2 Long Range External Antennas by Tyler Cash

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An excellent PoE enterprise WAP that meets my needs, but my minor criticisms are below.

ZyXEL NWA1123-NI is fantastic and meets my needs for a large home implementation that requires different VLANs for storage, backup, network, audio/video, phone, TV broadcast, broadcast/Internet radio/music and guest two guest VLANs - one secure and one public. I consistently recommend this product (after purchase and implementation) for businesses and large residential projects, keeping in mind that this recommendation is not based on price. The price just makes my recommendation a win-win! My small gripe is this: configuring the device through a browser requires a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that has too many security flaws to count. and new holes are discovered. weekly within the JVM. There are alternative methods that ZyXEL can implement to manage the device more securely via the Web Smart interface. Unfortunately, ZyXEL didn't go that route. So I use a virtual machine with a JVM to control these devices, which reduces my vulnerability to JVM attacks in my standard laptop's everyday web browser. The second option, which I've used more in the past than now, is of course the command line interface (CLI), which works quite well. Note that the CLI commands are very different from the Cisco CLI commands. My little remark is not a sufficient reason to remove the asterisk or even half of the asterisk - rather a third of the asterisk; Therefore I give this product 4 and 2/3 stars!
