Bushnell Engage DX - Affordable Quality Binoculars in a Compact Body

Bushnell Engage DX - Affordable Quality Binoculars. The roof prism design makes it very compact for the performance you get. However, be sure to select the correct magnification and lens size for your use. COMPACT DESIGN: Aside from the general build quality and finishes (which are already well documented in the Revain listing), one of the most notable features is the compact design. The use of a "roof prism" design makes the Engage DX very compact for the performance it delivers. The Engage DX 10x42 is just 5.8 inches (147mm) long and weighs 23.5 ounces (666 grams). (Note that the Revain currently appears to have slightly different model specs in the images for this listing.) Field of view is 340 feet at 1,000 yards, or 113 meters at 1,000 yards. That's a viewing angle of 6.45 degrees. The exit pupil size is 4.2mm (42/10) which is not big enough for low light conditions but is good for this size binocular. The eye relief is 18 mm. . Adjust the eyecups when you don't wear glasses. METAL CHASSIS: Metal chassis ensures durability. WATER RESISTANCE: Bushnell claims they are IPX7 waterproof, which means they're waterproof for up to 30 minutes at depths of up to 3 feet. : However, this does not matter if you do not choose the right binoculars for your purposes. I got 10x42 binoculars. This is a 10x magnification and a 42 millimeter diameter "lens" (large lens on the ends). While it may seem that bigger is better, it really isn't: Magnification: More care is needed to keep high magnification binoculars still high enough to be useful. If you move while using them, 10x is too much to be useful. In addition, binoculars with high magnification have a narrower field of view. So think about how and when you are going to use the binoculars. Lens: A larger lens collects more light, which is useful in low-light conditions. But it gets heavier and often more expensive. There's no space to go into detail here, but it's worth doing a little research about your intended use to find the right magnification and lens size. 20 YEAR WARRANTY: Bushnell offers a lifetime limited lifetime warranty on the product. The Bushnell website states that Engage binoculars have a 20 year lifespan. READ THE MANUAL. The guide is three pages long, and it's worth taking a look at some of the features you might be missing (such as how to use the eyecups with or without glasses). BE CAREFUL WHEN COMPARING MODELS: The branding of Bushnell Engage binoculars can be very confusing in relation to the features offered. In addition to the X, DX, and EDX discussed on this page, which make up the 2019 lineup, there's also an older, unlettered Engage model. (Revain link) This model offers more features than all 2019 models: ED Prime extra-low dispersion glass; PC3 Prism Phase Coating (applied to prisms, increases resolution and contrast); UltraWide Band Coating (an anti-reflective coating process customized for each lens element in the optical path); and fixing diopters.
