We bought this for our daughter earlier this summer. She is 37 inches tall and weighs 32 pounds. I went for the larger size because she was just at her weight limit and I wanted her to be able to wear it again next year. Before the pandemic, she took classes at the YMCA and didn't use a life jacket. In the pool with lifeguards (and she and I) we don't use them either. But during this strange summer, which it was, we were lucky to know someone who welcomed us into my private pool. But without lifeguards, I wanted something to help our daughter stay afloat. It fit her perfectly and was comfortable enough that she never complained. She was very insecure the first time she stepped into the water until she realized what it was. I noticed that even though we swam without it, she was still very comfortable in the water. It's very easy to "choose" and I guess by the time she's done with it next summer I won't look very good. I wish it had a more durable fabric because once the fabric is torn and stretched, wrinkles start to form on it. (Like nylon stockings, for reference) Another issue was the crotch strap. It has a small pad intended to protect the wearer from chafing with a rough strap. However, it slips and does not work well. My daughter got a horrible "burn" the first day when the belt rubbed. (She didn't complain while wearing it, so I didn't know until we were done.) We tried to leave this pad in place for later use. Undoing the strap doesn't solve the problem as the jacket only lifts up to put it around her ears with the strap still taut between her legs. I can see if I can sew a better lining to cover the entire strap before next year. I bought one of these smaller ones for our local youngest daughter a week ago (less than $5) and look forward to using them on both girls next summer.
