Review on Brooks Womens Cascadia Peach Pearl Men's Shoes by Montrell Copeland

Very waterproof. Very persistent. Not as responsive - feels a bit flat.

I bought these shoes for the Pacific Northwest winter which is quite wet. Gore-Tex is essential if you want to keep your feet dry during long hours of snow and rain runs. The Cascadia 14 GTX is very waterproof and keeps my feet warm and dry. The grip is very good in muddy and wet terrain. Haven't tried it on a lot of snow yet. I'd love to test the traction in different conditions, but for now this seems to be one of the best running shoes for gripping uncomfortable wet and muddy terrain that I've ever used. In recent years, the Cascadia 13 GTX has caused pain in the toes. where the laces are tied over the tongue. I had to send them back. They don't have such a problem at all, which I'm very glad about. The shoes seem to be quite comfortable and I think they fit great. I wear a size 15 and it's very hard to find quality Gore-Tex running shoes in this size. My only complaint is that the shoe lacks responsiveness and doesn't feel fully cushioned upon landing. Most running shoes these days fall into one of two categories. 1) Soft - Softer handling for long runs and/or rough terrain, but not as responsive. 2) Responsive - Gives good ground feel and offers some responsiveness or bounce with each step, but not as soft. The Cascadia 14 GTX doesn't have much cushioning or responsiveness. It could be mostly psychological, I can't really decide yet. Conclusion: I have no problem with my body being "beaten" by the shoes after a few weeks and 50-60 miles of running in these shoes. They are dry and aggressive with traction which I really need. I highly recommend them for wet running.

Pros
  • Very convenient. I love all the updates to the Cascadia line.
Cons
  • May not be a secure fit for runners with small ankles.
