Review on Pentalic Nature Sketch Pad, 12x6 inches - Enhanced SEO-friendly Product Title by Kelsey Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Paper 5 stars, format 4 stars. 5 star covers etc

I have other sizes of pental spiral books for nature sketching and such. The paper is marked 25% cotton, heavy enough for lighter watercolors, has a good tooth for dry pencils and is textured enough for color grain and a good average page whiteness, not strikingly white but not quite ivory or cream. . With this landscape format I find it a bit shaky. It needs to be trimmed because the long edges in this format don't fit the large spiral binding so snugly that the pages remain stable when you simply hold the book in your hand or on a tabletop without moving it. I found I adjusted the side stack a bit more than other spirals unless I used a rubber band, clips, or whatever to hold the sides together. This is a good sketchbook, the covers are very stiff and supportive and it lays flat and folds in a circle as you would expect from a spiral binding. However, you don't want to paint over the gutter, large holes and too flexible when it's 6" x 24". Both sides of the sheet can be used without tracing paper for pigment ink and watercolor fountain pens. I haven't tried markers or other juicy markers. Many different inks, crayons and soluble graphite have been used and they are all good. (Edit: I tried the superfine marker today and it was ok with no bleed through. Although I was just drawing lines and writing by hand.) This book tops the Canson XL multimedia book. Less warpage, better paper with a well-bound surface. Canson XL surface fibers tend to take on a more suede-like surface texture over time. In fact, the price difference is negligible, and this Pentalic is way better than paper. This papery finish retains a crisper feel, likely due to the cotton content. It's also heavier and doesn't warp anywhere near as much as Canson XL Mixed Media. Overall I really enjoyed this book and need to add a teeny tiny paperclip, paper clip or whatever while you work just to fix the pages. on a big, thick stack of paper doesn't really matter. It's good paper, and this book is 50 pages, so for the price it's a lot of paper. I would recommend buying this book instead of Canson XL MM paper, especially if you like the spiral landscape format. For me, I found the very long spiral binding a little wobbly in landscape orientation and they could probably make a slightly smaller circumference in the binding for this particular model to make the book a bit stiffer. apply to the field. The book is a little flexible due to the page length, but that's not difficult to balance given the quality and value of the book.
