Bikes from my little mountain

First of all I would like to say to those who recommend that I buy "real snow chains". I have 2 pairs that I was able to put on the tires exactly. never. If you want to buy 2 pairs 17 inch snow chains cheap, just leave message to me, you can get them. "Real snow chains" may work for some people, but if I can't get them on and off my car quickly and easily, they're useless to me. I live at 1400 feet on a 2.5 mile dirt/gravel road that remains covered in ice and snow for weeks after there is no snow anywhere in our county. I'm a small business owner so if I can't start I won't get paid, that's all. I needed a product that a 40 year old woman could easily put on and take off 6 days a week. For the last 3 winters I've used spider spikes which I think is a pretty good product too, but after enduring the harsh conditions of mountain life many of the plastic components of the spider spikes started to break. and needed a replacement so I started looking for an alternative. These tracks from Thule seem like a great alternative at the moment. I have a 2006 Saturn Vue AWD. The chains were a bit tricky the first time, but I had to unlearn what I expected from Spike Spiders. They fell off the first time I used them, but I realized I had mixed up the component to make sure I had the correct ferrule adapter, so it wasn't a design flaw, just a simple mistake that was easy to fix . while I was halfway to my mountain. You can't fix regular snow chain adjustment unless your car is completely level, which I certainly wasn't. I am assuming that some of the people reporting chains falling off their tires may have done the same thing, easily leading to error. Otherwise the instructions seemed very easy and now that I've done this a few times (I only received it 5 days ago) I can get it on and off in minutes. Spikes-Spiders were easier to put on and took less time to put on, but these chains are also much more aggressive in traction control, so I think it's a good compromise. Although I cannot confirm the durability of this product yet. I'm pretty confident that with their stronger construction (compared to my old spider spikes) they will last at least as long as my old "snap-on" chains. Considering the price I got for K-Summits here at Revain (over $200 LESS than Spikes-Spiders), I feel this is money well spent. They're light and they work.
