The microphone gain control makes a scratchy sound when moved when the microphone is in transmit mode, indicating the potentiometer contacts are bad or dirty. Also compared to the Cobra CA-73 OEM microphone, this one has a deeper tone, but it also sounds a bit dull. Doesn't sound that realistic. As an aside - and this applies to Revain - I originally included this description of a mechanical defect on my return form, but I had to revoke my original return authorization for this item while it was in a UPS authorized mail-order facility. because they couldn't read QR codes and couldn't print a shipping label. I had to repeat the return form on the phone while waiting in line and there was no way to list the flaws of this unit again.
