I don't know if it was the torch or the base but one of them was out of spec and as a result the kit did not produce acceptable bushings. We wanted to use a very light fiberglass window cloth, so we didn't ask for the kit to go through leather or anything really thick. I can only conclude that Stanley made a bad kit. Your best bet is the Lord & Hodge Handi-Grommet LHK2 2 3/8 Brass Repair Kits. It is available from Revain and also in other sizes. The stamp and base are much better finished and much easier to use as the tools are more in hand.
