Review on Blue 1764Lb Ratchet Straps Tie Down Kit - 4 Metal Ratchet Buckles W/ Safety Lock S Hooks, Soft Loops & Storage Bag For Moving Cargo, Appliances, Lawn Equipment & Motorcycle by Darryl Buck

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A nice upgrade over cheap Harbor Freight tie downs. No issues after 1.5 months

I go flying on my paramotor a lot and need to strap it down to my cargo carrier.I had been using the least expensive Harbor Freight tie downs, the Haul-Master 400 lbs Capacity ones. They are often on sale for about $10.They were fine for a while, but after about 2 years of use they started to degrade, and one ripped/snapped on a trip.I picked these up on a whim, mainly because their breaking strength was 47% higher, so I have to assume that the working load is also roughly 47% higher, maybe 588-600 lbs. I don't need the higher weight that much, I just want something more durable. So far, these are more durable, while still being roughly the same size as my previous tie downs. The ratchet mechanisms are smooth out of the box, no need to add lubrication. The vinyl handle covering is nice, and the vinyl on the hooks has held up better as well. These are nice for the price, and hopefully will hold up for the long haul.

Pros
  • Above average strap set! Bag to store in is awesome! Great value for the price!
Cons
  • The soft loops provided in the kit may not be durable enough to withstand heavy loads or frequent use, leading to the need for frequent replacement
