I bought this because I do a lot with PCB assembly and such for my Christmas lights. I have a lot to do this year and for that I needed a new station. I gave away my old friend because he wanted it and I was planning to improve it. This is a great update. I wanted to attach a heat gun to this because I often use solder and gasket connectors and sometimes just use a soldering iron and heat shrink tubing. In any case, my old one had a dial and it was difficult to get the same accuracy as the digital ones. It heats up about as fast as my old station. The heat gun is also useful for touch ups and I've had to use it a few times so far. Sometimes getting the solder lines where I wanted was a problem. Not because of that, but mostly because of the bad planning I'm working on. In any case, I plan on making more PCB prototypes at some point and selling them to the lighting community after I'm done with them. It's pretty impressive. I would definitely recommend this as the heat gun was incredibly useful and the station is fast and efficient for my use. This might be overkill if you don't use soldering stations often, but if you solder frequently this is definitely better than a pen and way better than a regular station.
