Knives are excellent. I'm no expert on kitchen knives but I used to live in a house that only used expensive JAHenckels and I love these knives as much as I like these. They are super sharp out of the box. A glass block is a great idea as it's easy to see which knife you're taking and easy to keep clean. The slim profile reduces the countertop space that the unit occupies. The only downside I can find is that you need clearance to be able to remove longer knives. This means you can't put a block under most cabinets - I couldn't and didn't have to put the knives closer to the sink where there are no cabinets than I originally wanted. A small disadvantage of course.
