Review on Capture Record Streaming Broadcasting Conference by Michael Custodio

Revainrating 3 out of 5

So far, so good! UPDATED!

I bought this as an alternative to using the Canon EOS webcam software which still has some bugs. I've used a combination of this and a third party program to use my Canon M50 as a webcam for zooming and streaming and have never had a problem with too many conflicting software components until recently. At first I was afraid to buy because of the low price. However, I risked $20, hooked up a micro-HDMI to my mirrorless camera, and took a chance. I was positively surprised. A few tips: * Definitely requires USB 3.0 power delivery. I accidentally connected to 2.0 and it failed every 15-20 minutes or so (with some cool retro color bars), it took over 30 minutes on USB 3.0. UPDATED BELOW *not streamed directly in 4k. I'll probably have to take a closer look at this, but it seems the maximum it can handle is 1080p 60fps. 1 star deduction for that. *Many cameras require fiddling to get pure HDMI, ie removing focus bars and/or information. You need to find out what works for your particular camera. UPDATE: Found out that the limited length of the live stream (30 minutes) is actually based on the file formatting for my Canon m50. I found a workaround for this (by opening EOS Utility and plugging in a capture card along with a USB connection direct from the camera) and was able to run for over an hour with no issues. For this reason I have updated my rating to 4 stars.
