Best part is not having to go up and downstairs with a heavy vac. I have two cats so my two area rugs tend to "fur up" quickly. This is a great way to quickly remove that surface debris. Fairly easy to empty once you're done (although the cat hairs tend to really stick to the brushes! Even with the little rake they provide cat hair is stubborn)It's lightweight but it does require a little muscle to move it! (I offer this info because I have shoulder pain constantly and this does aggravate those joints a bit)Bottom line is I think it's great on carpets/rugs and I'm glad I bought it!
