Review on πŸ”§ ToolSmart Bluetooth Connected Digital Multimeter with NCV Detector, Auto-Ranging - General Tools TS04, CAT III 600V Safety Rated by Tyler Owens

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It has a real security rating. 5 stars for the value.

I've been an electrical engineer since the Simpson 260 multimeter was considered indispensable. Now it's the Fluke family. If you have money, buy a Fluke. But even if you don't need or want the accuracy and reliability of a Fluke DMM, you NEED to be sure that the meter you buy won't turn into a charcoal briquette in your hand when you're measuring inside the panel. . This is where CAT ratings come into play. However, anyone a meter from the other end of the world can print whatever they want on the front. When I see the security rating I ask "Sez who?" In the case of this General Tool DMM, it's ETL, that's who. ETL is one of the many "NRTL” (National Recognized Testing Laboratory) along with UL, TUV, SGS and others. A safety rating doesn't mean a bean unless you know the accredited lab that tested it. I bought this counter to have on my desktop occasionally. I have some Flukes at home. But if this General Tool DMM was the only one I had, everything would be fine. You cannot confuse it with the Fluke 87. However, for 95% of what I need a meter for, this meter will meet all my needs.
