Purchased after rebuilding my engine in a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 N/A. The front seal included in the rebuild kit seemed to be very tight on the front cap and leaked after running. This gasket comes with a lip guard that you leave on during installation to protect the lip of the gasket. The body of this seal is made entirely of rubber instead of the traditional rubber lip on a steel body, making it very easy to install by hand without a press or hammer/block. I don't think the lip of this seal is like a traditional rubber material. There weren't any instructions that might be helpful in knowing whether or not you need lube. Since it had a cap and no rubber I chose not to use lube on the seal and it worked flawlessly with no leaks. Now I have over 3,000 km with no leaks.
