I needed a large water bottle for the summer months and it didn't disappoint. I like cold water with ice and this keeps my water cold without adding ice. I added ice last weekend as I will be outside all day. After 9 hours the ice had almost not melted. I like that I can close the lid. It doesn't fit all cup holders in my car. Only suitable for front console holders (Ford Edge). So when I bought 2 more for my husband and son we made sure the lids were locked and we threw them everywhere. They don't lick. Can't comment on hot liquid as I use these exclusively for water (pretty much everything I drink) but based on the insulation and the fact that our bottles keep water cold for over 12 hours I would expect it to work well with hot.
