Review on LG 29WK600 W 29 inch UltraWide Monitor, 2560X1080P, Adjustable, ‎29WK600-W by Andrew Tierra

If the frozen settings monitor is ok, this is for you.

The first thing you will notice is that there is only one control, the power button. If you press it, a small menu will appear for a short time that you cannot access. It is insensitive to your cursor and arrow keys. According to the accompanying brochure, the monitor is pre-calibrated - and honestly the colors look good. But if you want to customize it, you're SOL. Windows display settings can't help. The only files on the LG CD support a .pdf file titled "Precautions"(!). No mention of a frozen menu or the split screen and PIP options advertised above. Recording a support phone number advises you to visit their website or leave a number for a call back. The site is 99% dedicated to sales. Customer feedback questions are almost always linked to your response to their sales pitch. I finally found a download site that hosted the split screen options software - 288MB. But when I tried to install it, I was automatically redirected to Microsoft for a (very) lengthy download of .NET Framework 4.7.2, which (obviously) failed to install. Gates error messages I dismissed. There are many online solutions but none of them worked. Native MS .NET pages are mainly for developers, not users. Maybe .NET 4x doesn't work with Win 7, maybe due to company intent. This may be a moot point for us as my wife has succumbed to Win 10 and this monitor will beautify her computer. So I won't be returning it until Win 10 is installed next week. If it works I'll update my review. FYI Message: The only cable provided is (1) HDMI (there are 2 connectors), the third connector is for the DisplayPort cable. No VGA or USB connectivity; Headphone jack but no audio output.

Pros
  • HDR10 compatible
Cons
  • Limited upgrade option
