I LOVE geology so when I saw it I had to buy it for my 1 year old next year (proud homeschooling mom) to play and learn shapes/colors while her older sister did some learns about stones and minerals. To my delight, as soon as they arrived, the older sister started teaching them right away and made up her own games in her sleep. The rocks are hollow but strong, and the geode is strong enough to withstand a few knocks on the ground before opening. A chisel and hammer are optional but add to the fun!
