Just bought this to replace the Evergreen brand which didn't seem to produce much heat. I was disappointed to see a brown dry residue of something permanent in the center of the bulb that wouldn't come off with a soft, dry cloth. After inserting the ceramic lamp socket, I tested it for 30 minutes. The lamp never got above 85 degrees (same problem as the other lamp I had) and started giving off a strong smell of burning hot plastic. I immediately deactivated it and sent it back for a refund. Very disappointed that this lamp not only emits heat poorly but can also apparently be unsafe. As soon as I put the Evergreen bulb back in the socket, the smell was gone, so it was definitely the bulb to blame, not my socket.
