Review on Enhanced Olympus TP-8 Telephone Pick-up Microphone by Heather Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Yes, works great and very easy

It doesn't really need my review as it has 1400 reviews but here it is. I've known them for a few years and never got them but I'm glad I got them now and it's a tiny investment that will really come in handy from time to time. Record the soundtrack to any streaming video on your computer. (I use a Windows app called iSound but there are many options). From time to time I have a call that is audio only. You can record by leaving the speakerphone on and placing a small Dictaphone next to the phone, but I don't usually like the speakerphone and I often type during calls to take notes. Here is my setup. I have a tiny but high quality Sony recorder (UX560). Put on an external headset (headphones, not earbuds) and start a conversation. Insert a tiny Olympus TP-8 in your ear and connect it to a voice recorder (I have a UX560). That's all. A tip: I used the small liner here, on the TP-8 I usually use the medium liner. Since it fits under the earpiece, why not make it as small as possible. It's not like regular headphones where you might need a snug fit or maximum sound isolation. The quality is quite good and good enough for automatic transcription (e.g. Otter.ai).

Pros
  • Records straight to a dictaphone, recorder
Cons
  • I'll write later
