I bought these to fill in missing letters in the Scrabble game. The size corresponds to the squares on the playing field, but they can be distinguished from the originals because the wood is a little lighter - lighter than honey. They're also a bit thinner. Since I skipped about a dozen letters, and the missing letters were roughly half vowels and half consonants, the fact that you can distinguish them doesn't matter: you can't pick a simple letter while playing and be sure you'll get a more specific one letter, either a vowel or a consonant. This wouldn't be the case if you just replaced one or two. Of course you should replace the whole set, but that's a shame because the letters on the originals from my old game are burned into wood instead of just painted on and they feel a bit heavier and nicer to the touch. But as far as I can tell, none of the replacement letter sets on the Revain have burned out letters. First world problem! This set was a good deal and it's nice to have a full set of letters to play with.
