You get what you pay for

This is a good fish finder but not a great fish finder. This is the middle of the street. The components/casing are fairly cheap and very simple. I feel like I'm playing with it too much, I might break something. It works - not really, but it works. It claims to provide readings at speeds much higher than it is capable of. I'm losing stable readings above 30 mph. It usually shows "---" starting at 30 and sometimes reads. Not a big problem as my draw is pretty flat over 30mph but annoying nonetheless. It also logs incorrect readings fairly frequently - meaning I'm at 60 feet at least once an hour and it signals low tide as if I'm at 3-4 feet. Not a huge issue for the casual user - I'm not constantly fishing the bank or anything else that can be a constant nuisance. However, I disabled the alarm because I want to keep it on for security reasons. I use it for anchoring (knowing how much rope to expect), for safety for skiers, and for clearing certain areas of the lake. I appreciate the water and air temp, a really nice and useful feature. Overall it's a good sound and probably worth the money. If I had to do it again, I would choose something better. The company delivered quickly so it was appreciated.
