Review on Efficient Magnetic Charging for Android Devices - Netdot Compatible Charger by Bruce Marable

Terrible for a phone, good for wireless headphones. Overall good value for money.

Tl;Dr: Buy these for wireless headphones or other accessories that don't move around too often and/or things that aren't that important to maintaining a solid connection or charging. Don't buy them for use with a phone or anything that gets frequent multi-directional use and/or that needs reliable and constant charging. I liked it for the first month or so. I originally bought this for casual use with wireless headphones and it's perfect for that. As for the phone, it's comfortable enough for a car, but it's more trouble than it's worth. I've covered both use cases below: For my wireless headphones (Logitech G533): the cable and adapter work great for them and keep me from messing around with the mini USB while wearing them. I haven't noticed any damage to the adapter or cable and would recommend them to my friends for this use case. On my phone: Sometime in the 4th week the chrome finish of the connector started peeling off the "phone adapter" part. so that the metal/magnet underneath starts to rust. Also, one of the copper pads for the connector pins began to oxidize, resulting in an intermittent connection, and I plugged my phone in several times only to find that after a few hours it wouldn't even charge. I probably plug and unplug about 4-8 times a day. For headphones with the cord hanging straight down, the connection is fine. However, if you only place 4 feet of YOUR OWN CABLE on top of the plug in a direction perpendicular to the cable itself (e.g. if you are lying in bed with your phone across your face and the cable is hanging down. Or your phone on a desk with hangs on the cable). from the desk), it will come off very easily. Or if a foot of cable is stretched across it and you hit it or touch it with your finger, it will come loose. In fact, I'm sitting on the edge of the bed right now typing this and if I lift the phone more than 4 feet it just pops out. If I bang my fingers against the joint at all, it disengages. DO NOT use them with your phone unless you commit to buying a replacement every 6 months and only if you plan to wireless charge at home and use it in your car. In conclusion, the cables appear to be quality and the length and the fact that you get three of them in addition to interchangeable plugs is a really good deal.

Pros
  • This is a simple but perfect solution to prevent fraying charging cords, tripping over a cord and breaking your phone, fumbling around in the dark plugging in a cord and more.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
