I need to use one of these when I take work home. It protects me from disciplinary action for following my employer's safety rules. However, this product (or any other laptop lock) will not stand up to a determined thief. It can easily be defeated with cheap wire cutters. Even a good tug will do, but it's the laptop's design that will fail, not the lock. I gave it five stars because it does what it was designed to do - prevent theft. Deterrence does not mean prevention, so keep that in mind.
